Sunday, September 13, 10:30 a.m. Ingathering Water Communion– Rev. Darcey Laine (from Cortland)
Multi-Platform – In person Cortland, Athens and on Zoomc

Each fall we honor the start of a new church year with a gathering of water from wherever we
have been during the summer months. Sometimes it is from a serene lake we visited, or a creek
in our neighborhood, an ocean or river far away, the hose in our backyard or tap in our kitchen.
This fall we will offer a water communion ritual that you can do while physically distant. Water
unites us with all the living beings of the world, wherever we may be.

Wherever you spent your summer, please gather a small amount of water from one or more
places to contribute to our water communion

Sunday, September 20, 10:30 a.m.  What Grounds Us? — Rev. Darcey Laine (from Athens)
Multi-Platform – In person Athens, in person Cortland, or on Zoom.

Often, as we begin a ritual or spiritual practice, we are invited to ground ourselves. In these
turbulent times grounding can be supportive to our spirits and to our work out in the wider
world as well. Today we will dig into the many ways of grounding as we mark the Fall Equinox.

Sunday, September 27, 10:30 a.m.  Church History: The Cortland Universalist Lyceum — Autumn
Pfister (from Cortland)

Multi-Platform – In person Athens, in person Cortland, or on Zoom.
Over the summer Autumn did a deep dive into the history of famous liberal thinkers coming to and speaking at the
UU Cortland church.  We know that Emerson was here, as well as Clara Barton, Susan B. Anthony, Thomas Starr
King, and Harriet Beecher Stowe, among others and we’re proud of our history.   But why did they visit?  How did
they get here? Lets reintroduce Reverend William Fish and his part in the Lyceum movement of the mid-nineteenth
century.

Sunday, October 4, 10:30 a.m.  A New Thing — Rev. Darcey Laine (from Athens)
Multi-Platform – In person Athens, in person Cortland, or on Zoom.

In Jewish and Christian scriptures, the book of Isiah says “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it
springs up; do you not perceive it?” In these times when so much is crumbling, could it be that
something new is emerging?
